Queen Mary 2
Queen Mary 2, or QM2 as she is affectionately known, is Cunard Line's flag ship and arguably the grandest ocean liner ever built. Since her launch in 2004 when she was named by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, she has been voted "Best Luxury Ship" by readers of Travel Weekly magazine each year. She combines the most modern amenities with the refined, sophisticated ambience for which Cunard is known.
With her unique design as an ocean liner, Queen Mary 2 is able to glide through the waves as you cross the Atlantic, while you enjoy the amenities onboard.
Queen Mary 2 2016 Refit
Queen Mary 2 underwent a multi-million dollar refit in Spring 2016, with the following enhancements:
- Winter Garden transformed into Carinthia Lounge, an elegant, airy venue with a patisserie counter, special champagne Afternoon Tea experience and, in the evening, premium wine tasting
- Britannia Balcony rooms received new contemporary designs, inspired by Cunard's rich history
- The Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites were equipped with new colors in Cunard blue and reds, luxury carpets and new artwork
- 30 Britannia Club staterooms were added to deck 13 and all existing rooms extensively renovated
- 15 Britannia Single staterooms were added, nine on Deck 2 and six larger single rooms on Deck 3L
- The Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants were redesigned, each with a distinctive character, with more intimate tables for two and more space between tables for privacy.
- The very popular kennels saw an additional 10 spaces added, including an enhancement of the owners lounge, a new inside play area and a larger outside walking area.
On a Transatlantic Crossing you may have seven or more days and nights. Here are some of the things you can do during the day - and all are included in your cruise fare, unless otherwise indicated.
A few options for a day on Queen Mary 2:

(Use of the fitness centre is complimentary. Of course, spa treatments incur an additional charge, and access to the SpaClub can be purchased on a daily or duration-of-the-cruise basis.)
For some, relaxation is all about a good book and a quiet corner. Well, the Library onboard Queen Mary 2 provides over 8,000 titles: the largest collection at sea! Sit down in one of the comfortable arm chairs in front of one of the big windows looking over the bow of the ship and delve into your book or magazine. The bookshop next door offers the perfect present for bibliophiles, Cunard and Queen Mary 2 souvenir books, post cards and other souvenirs.

(Meals are generally complimentary, beverages are not.) If the weather is nice, sit in the sun at the Boardwalk Cafe for a casual lunch. Of course, the Kings Court is open for breakfast and lunch too.
When the weather is nice, enjoy one of the outdoor swimming pools on the aft of the ship, overlooking the wake. But this is the Atlantic, so if it is cloudy, enjoy the indoor pool and whirlpools.
There is so much to do on Queen Mary 2: art auctions, cooking demonstrations, an art gallery of famous masters, lecturers, first-run films, bridge and a golf simulator with 51 of the world's best courses.
But sometimes it is just nice to do nothing at all - just lounge in the privacy of your suite or stateroom, or find a comfortable spot in one of the many areas of the ship and watch the waves.... Life is good!
